Ariocarpus fissuratus v. fissuratus: this ethnobotanical cactus, also known as Chaute, Chautle, Living Rock, Cimarron, False Peyote, Star Rock, Sunami, and Waname, has magenta flowers. It occurs in the Big Bend region to the Pecos River in Texas, south into Coahuila, Chihuahua, and Durango, Mexico. Rare and endangered, it is listed in Appendix I of CITES and is threatened primarily because of collection from the wild. This plant is nursery grown from seed and suitable for a 3 inch pot.
